This is why journals can help beginning writers to become better writers. I keep a journal in my car to write in whenever I new idea hits me.

I love the story about Hemingway, he was such a larger than life character in many ways but he had tremendous discipline, too. I love doing “morning pages.” Julia Cameron coined this phrase in the Artist’s Way over 20 something years ago and I have worked through her book many times. I find that writing daily is a spiritual practice for me and I am happier when I make the time.
